Problem Note 44313: A "value ???? is not a valid SAS name.." error occurs if a variable name includes half-width katakana characters
If you run SAS® Enterprise Miner™ using the VALIDVARNAME=ANY option, then SAS Enterprise Miner should allow your variable names to contain Japanese characters. However, if a variable name contains a single-byte (half-width) katakana character, then SAS Enterprise Miner produces an error:
Error: exception.server.EMTOOL.RUNTIMEERROR
An error occurred while running this node. Please refer to the SAS log component of this node's
results for more information.
The text of the error in the node log varies according to the name of the variable. The text of the error is similar to this text:
ERROR: The value ???? is not a valid SAS name.
The only workaround is to remove the single-byte katakana characters from the variable names.
